X-Men: Days Of Future Past adds familiar faces, but will Daniel's Colossus be there?

More names from the original X-Men movie trilogy join Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days Of Future Past...
Bryan Singer is getting closer and closer to shooting the follow-up to X-Men: First Class, with X-Men: Days Of Future Past heading into production soon.
As well as the bulk of the First Class cast appearing, the plot this time - which involves time travel elements - will bring in faces from the original X-Men trilogy (of which Singer directed the first two outings). As such, we've already heard that Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are involved. But Singer has now announced on his Twitter feed that Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Rashmore are returning too.
Paquin will be playing Rogue again, Page is back as Shadowcat, while Ashmore will be reprising the role of Iceman. In his Tweet, Singer thanks Brett Ratner for letting them live in X-Men: The Last Stand, which suggests that the characters he did bump off are going to stay dead (in spite of the time travel mechanic).
More news on X-Men: Days Of Future Past as we get it. The film is set for release on July 18th 2014.

Our Exclusive Interview with: @danielcudmore about @Baytown_Outlaws

Many of you know that Daniel is in a new movie called ‘The Baytown Outlaws’ the movie was previously called ‘The Baytown Disco’ but was changed when it was picked up for distribution.  The movie written by Barry Battles and Griffin Hood staring, Eva Longoria, Billy Bob Thorton, Paul Wesley and Daniel Cudmore as Lincoln Oodie.

We interviewed Dan about his audition process and what it was like playing the role of Lincoln who stands out in this instant cult classic.

Team Cudmore: What was your reaction when you were given the script for The Baytown Outlaws and you saw that Lincoln didn't say a word?
Dan:  I really liked what Barry and Griffen had penned but at first I really wanted to stay away from a character like that.. But the more I thought about it, it's even harder to react truthfully without having to speak, so it was a great challenge.

Team Cudmore:  Did you have to audition or did they pick you for the role?

Dan: Barry had me in mind since he saw XMen, so it was offered to me.

Team Cudmore: When you got on set, did you take advantage of staying quiet and “playing” with the see and say?
Dan: haha, I got to play around with the talk and say, but I enjoyed speaking when I could!

Team Cudmore: Did you practice your facial reactions in the mirror? Because I got to say they were quite funny and spot on.
Dan: No not at all, I just reacted to the situations and what the awesome actors around m were do.

Team Cudmore: The way the movie ended hinted at maybe a sequel, would you be interested in it, if it came about?
Dan:  I would love to do a sequel, I love working and the other actors and crew were such a blast to work with!  The characters could be explored so much more.

                 Thanks for the great questions!

The movie is in limited release, but still can be rented via iTunes and on demand in some locations, before its release. This movie is not to be missed. You will not be disappointed in what you see.

The Baytown Outlaws, Review by Den of Geeks

Billy Bob Thornton is back! Although underused in this shoot 'em up that might be trying just a little too hard to be crazy.
State Street Productions
Directed By Barry Battles
Clayne Crawford, Billy Bob Thorton and Eva Longoria
Friends often accuse me of being over-critical, a man unable to enjoy mindless entertainment. Damn right I'm über critical, that's my job, but there are instances where I've found enjoyment from an out-there, balls-to-the-wall, ridiculous feature. I'm a fan of films such as Shoot 'Em Up and the first Smokin' Aces. The issue with the somewhat enjoyable The Baytown Outlaws, is that it comes off as a carbon copy of those films. Attempting to be super violent while somehow playing it tame at other times, The Baytown Outlaws is a lot like the NY Jets 2012 season; it finds ways to clumsily push down field, but can't seem to find the end zone.

Brick, Lincoln and McQueen Oodie are three down on their luck bad-asses for hire. Careless and brutal, they are the definition of run and gun bandits. After botching a job, they find themselves stiffed out of a payment. When Celeste (Eva Longoria), an attractive young woman who has no sense of the situations she puts herself in, offers the Oodies a large sum of money to kill her ex-husband and free her godson from his evil clutches, the boys can't pass up the opportunity. Kidnapping is not really their game, but the brothers have dreams of turning their lives around (or for McQueen, putting in a pool behind their literal, shit shack), so the dirt crusted trio jump in the car and head from Alabama to Texas to free Rob (Celeste's godson) and kill the man keeping him captive, Carlos (Billy Bob Thornton). What Celeste doesn't explain, is that Carlos is a nutbag drug lord with a team of psychopathic murderers at his beck and call and Rob is a wheelchair bound teen with cerebral palsy. Successfully snatching Rob the boys once fail to do the job right, leaving Carlos alive. With a cavalcade of maniacs, an ATF agent and a bitter sheriff on their tail, the Oodies attempt to complete the job and get themselves on a better life track.

The madcap assassin madness of Smokin' Aces consisted of three inbred redneck brothers, ex-cops, sexy women and a master of disguise, just to name a few. While the comparison between the Oodies and the brothers of Smokin' Aces is the only real startling double take, The Baytown Outlaws seems to take the theme of mind-boggling  teams of killers and just applies the “let's see how crazy we can get with this” theory. A team of biker hookers, a group of highway pirates who drove into the film straight from beyond the Thunderdome and a tribe of arrow shooting Native Americans also mean to make the Twilight wolf pack, but only highlight the bonanza of blood soaked silliness. It seems that much more attention was paid to seeing how far off the cliff the filmmakers could push the wildness factor, as opposed to caring about tying the over-the-top aspects of the picture into the rest of the story. Turning up the ridiculous, fun factor and succeeding consists of more than just coming up with the nuttiest idea you can think of and slapping it into the middle of your movie. There's a certain type of talent you need to push out a gem of madness like a Hobo With a Shotgun. I can't rightly say co-writer/director Barry Battles doesn't have that gene in him, but he certainly misses the mark here.

As Brick, the lead Oodie, Clayne Crawford has shaken the Ray Liotta-ness that was so prominent when he co-starred in The Perfect Host and has become a full on scraggly Rick Schroder. His facial resemblance has absolutley nothing to do with his performance, but it's hard not to think Clayne Crawford was created in a test tube simply to resemble other actors. Having made his name in the world of T.V., I am fairly unfamiliar with Crawford aside from his work in The Perfect Host, but that makes his performance as the elder statesman of the Oodie clan all the more impressive. Crawford may be living in the skin of a stereotype, but his character is worlds away from what I expected of him; so he gets some extra credit. Travis Fimmel plays the youngest/dumbest Oodie, McQueen, and if he doesn't jump out at you as a Sons of Anarchy reject, get your eyes checked. McQueen is the loveable doofus with a heart, something that is not that difficult to pull off, but I'm not going to hold that against him. The real treasure of the Oodie group is Daniel Cudmore as hulking, mute, Lincoln. Appearing in the past in both X-Men and Twilight movies, Cudore never stood out in anyway to me before. As someone who cannot speak, Cudmore never over acts with his mannerisms, a mistake often made by actors playing a mute character.
The young leads in The Baytown Outlaws are flanked by a rotating cast of well known names who seem to be dialing in their performances. Andre Braugher tackles the role of the loafing sheriff out to aide himself and no one else. Michael Rapaport checks in as the owner of a bar the boys stop in and Eva Longoria hoves onto the screen wearing some short shorts, which earns The Baytown Outlaws an extra Star, right off the top. The big draw of the film (aside from Longoria's smooth skin) is finally seeing Billy Bob Thornton back in action following his semi-retirement from acting. Thornton throws down some fun loving criminal madness for the audience, but in the end he's surprisingly underused. The still young Thomas Sangster, who plays the disabled Rob, proves he has what it takes to tackle any role. I didn't realize at first that he was the little lovesick misanthrope stepson of Liam Neeson in Love Actually. If Sangster plays his cards right and lands some big roles, we may be seeing a lot more of him in the future.

Bombarding every frame with as many recognizable faces as humanly possible, the focus of The Baytown Outlaws is solely its presentation. With everything from confusing timelines, tired comic book artwork that fades faster than a fake tan and a plot more transparent than saran wrap, The Baytown Outlaws just can't pull the trigger, unlike its ultra-violent protagonists.

Classy Clermont in charge { @JNCudmore }

ASM Clermont Auvergne have qualified for the Heineken Cup quarter-finals but they will want to make sure they guarantee themselves a home draw in the last eight of the tournament.

The French side, who reached last season's semi-finals only to be knocked out by eventual winners Leinster, travel to west Wales knowing a win against the Scarlets would ensure a home quarter-final.
Clermont have already done the double over the reigning champions, Leinster, in this season's Pool stages and are viewed by many as favourites to win this season's Heineken Cup.
The French side recorded an emphatic 46-3 bonus point victory over Exeter Chiefs on their home patch at the Stade Marcel Michelin in their last outing and will be odds on favourites to do the same to the Scarlets.
Clermont are one of only three sides, along with English champions Harlequins and Top 14 league leaders Toulon, who remain unbeaten in the Pool stages with one game still to play and have had Morgan Parra in prime form.
The Scarlets European campaign never really got started and was really derailed after their morale-sapping 49-16 defeat out in Clermont at the start of the Pool back in October.
The Welsh side, who were Heineken Cup semi-finalists in 2007, have failed to win a game in this Pool and were on the end of another defeat when they were beaten 33-14 by Leinster in Dublin in the last round.
Match Facts
  • Scarlets have lost their last six ERC fixtures. Their only win in their last nine Heineken Cup ties was 16-13 at Castres Olympique on 21 January 2012.
  • No French side has ever won at Parc y Scarlets (four visits by Stade Francais, Brive, Perpignan and Castres Olympique have all ended in defeat for the visitors).
  • Clermont have won their Round 6 encounters for the past three seasons in the Heineken Cup.
  • ASM have won their last four away game - their best ever run of its kind in ERC competition.
  • Collectively, Clermont's goalkickers have seen 85% of their attempts go over this season, the highest success rate of all clubs.

Heineken Cup: towards a type for the ASM team tomorrow against Exeter

Between Jamie Cudmore (34), left, and Nathan Hines (36 years), plating on Irish Leinster, ASM fielding a strong second line experience.? Richard Brunel Photo / The Mountain - All rights reserved - BRUNEL Richard

The staff of the ASM Clermont Auvergne will align tomorrow night against Exeter players who have shown so far in the European Cup. Kick off at 19 hours.
Tomorrow night (19 hours) against Exeter, Cotter and Azéma will compose a fifteen starting that strongly resembles a typical team.
All coaches in the world reject the idea and make a face when you hear the term "team guy." No way for them to publicly admit they have in mind a fifteen ideal with men they consider the best in the field?, A legitimate attitude who wants to spare the state of mind of his troops.
At Clermont, the complexity is much higher than the number in recent seasons, won in thickness and level of players has increased significantly. But choices are still to arrive and when the big games, coaches necessarily the best features out of their sleeves.
Tomorrow, the match must qualify to the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup, Clermont coaches will trust the players who have hitherto provided the job in this competition. Only missed the call elements injured (Vosloo, Rougerie, Byrne), power holders if they were on their feet.
